Progressions and development

Well we are at the end of another term! what a wonderful accomplishment.

My son is home from his trip, and my research paper is finished; I can focus some good attention on him this week.

The scientific research paper was a enjoyable challenge to me, with some frustrating moments. Overall I can see progression in writing skill. I still long for further development however. Although I put sensible words on paper, still to be concise and choose stronger wording is a challenge to me.

Another composition term would be very good.

Miles to go before I sleep. : )

I borrowed this Robert Frost's poem, but everyone probably knew that.

I guess I feel a little like that today. It is so beautiful outdoors today, (unlike Frost's snowy woods) and I would really like to stop and enjoy it, but I have miles to go.....

I do enjoy writing still, having to write a report hasn't diminished that, but deadlines though needful are challenging.Researching the topic of managed medicalized maternity care versus collaborative comprehensive childbirth, with a focus on the midwife profession was enjoyable for me, but I had difficulty with how to present my argument in a scientifically researched way. I am still not satisfied with my paper. So we shall see how the day pans out.

As a side note, I pick up my son Billy on Thursday! Yeaaa! I sooo miss him.

Notations and Annotations

What a wonderful feeling to have nearly completed another term.

The lack of comments on posts has not discouraged me in the least, but I do enjoy feedback.

I suppose I have been keeping a journal and that is an accomplishment for me. I may continue this weekly process, after this term...possibly.

I wonder how many in this class have had a snowy week? We are currently receiving another few wet inches of the whiteness. It is beautifully clinging to the trees today. I love to see the snow displayed like this. I am assuming the winter is almost finished..?

We have two birthdays this week on the same day, Friday. Two sons (Marko, and Micah) born eleven years apart. What a wonderful treat for the entire family. They enjoy sharing their day.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone, and best wishes on your paper.

Peer Performance

<------This is my sweet son , Micah maybe he's noticed a mistake in my draft?

I have always appreciated, when I've written a paper, anyone who was willing to proofread, or listen to me read it aloud. It has always been a tremendous help, and usually an encouragement to me.Peer review is an excellent addition to a Composition class. The only thing I would add is an extra week of it. : ) Rough draft 1 rough draft 2, and then final.

Anyone who reads this post, if you have also read my draft, I really appreciate your time and feedback.

My past six weeks, and final projects.

Good morning,

<-- My baby girl , Deborah. Reflecting on the past six weeks brings only one word to mind. ....Fast. I am not disappointed, just surprised at how quickly time ticks by. I have found that the final project process has been mind consuming..at least to a point. I am enjoying the writing process, but do not have a method for making it any easier. Some things just take time...The research and steps must be done. My family is very supportive, and follow along each step of the way knowing it is an important part of my education. In thinking of this week's blog question, I truly have no idea what influence ideas about my topic

(What can be learned about the role of midwives, the development of their place in childbirth, and their legislative freedom in the United States?)

can have on later research. Anyone care to comment?
I have been contemplating the rough draft I am working on, the past few days...feeling sometimes concerned that this might not be " scientifically researchy" enough, and other times feeling confident about the direction of the draft and interested in getting it onto paper.
The remaining weeks this term will be equally as fast as the past several, so ....back to work I go.... Hi Ho Hi Ho Hi Ho.........

The influence of returning to school upon my life.

The decision to return to school was somewhat of a quick decision, but I decided with the help of my husband and children. The subject of nutrition has always held my interest, as has midwifery and I felt the two subjects dove tailed nicely together. Nutrition science became the program I began to pursue, and education became a focus in our home in a new way. Our family has looked upon online schooling as a very good choice, and my husband’s and my return to school has in a way blazed a trail for the children. The children have been tremendously supportive of our decision, but still ask if I am almost done with whatever project I may be working on, missing their time. I have made a strong effort to organize the amount of time I spend in the subjects I am studying so as to not lose sight of our priorities. There have been times when I have wondered if I made the right decision in returning to school, especially when I think of the costs I have incurred, but at this point to me it is almost like birth, to go back is impossible, and quitting at this point will involve a greater cost. To proceed however will bring great satisfaction and reward.

Today looks as though it may be another "warmer" ( for snow) day. The snow outside is slushily melting away.

It looks as though we will have a busy, but enjoyable day with school lessons, puppy deliveries and normal household routine.

This is Hudson and one of our puppies.

Good morning,

It looks as though it will be a cloudy, but warmer day today. Last night our last collie went to his new home. I was very pleased with the quality of the homes these little animals received. The little guy last night is going to be the companion of an older special needs woman. Her brother bought the puppy for her. He said her previous collie was eighteen years old, and just recently died. She relied on the companionship from that dog so much, that he knew he should get another collie that looked similar just as soon as possible. I know they chose a good dog. He is very gentle, intelligent, and eager to please.

My daughter, Johanna, would like to begin making baskets with her puppy selling profits. She is hoping to become so proficient that she can make a business of it some day. I know she can do it.

Hello everyone,

Today is clear and cold. We received a good, little bit of snow this weekend. I think there may be three inches outside. The children enjoyed the Tennessee version of sliding this weekend. A large group of friends along with their trucks and four wheelers and car hoods : ) met down the road in a field for an enthusiastic couple hours of "car-hooding". Some of my children went to enjoy it, and get cold and wet. I stayed home. I did enjoy sliding, and other winter activities while living in Vermont, but the winter's here seem a little wetter. I have greatly enjoyed the sunnier days though. We just did not have as much sunshine in Vermont. It is a very beautiful state though irregardless. Well the pups are all sold now, and will be to their new homes by Wednesday. It was a good experience for the whole family. My son William (Billy) will be leaving for Albania in a few weeks, so we are preparing. This is his first trip overseas. I tried to upload a picture of him, but it is taking too long tonight. I will try again tomorrow.

January 26, 2010

We are in the midst of cold and sinus recovery in our home. It feels more on the upward swing now. The children were more miserable at the end of last week.
Today was cold, blustery and snowy. A good day to snuggle on the couch. We did that some, but also worked on school lessons, did some deep cleaning, enjoyed my family, and am now attemptin to finish up my assignments before I run out of time. : 0 )
As I type I have a wonderful batch of homemade bread rising on the stove. I am anticipating the soon to be aroma....

Our puppies are getting older, some are getting bigger. The chihuahuas will be about 5 pounds full grown, so they sill look like newborn puppy size compared to the collies we still have. Only one collie puppy left now. They have been a joy to raise. As much as I've enjoyed the little chihuahuas, they have been quite a bit more work since they are in the house(in a crate though).
I thought I would attempt to upload a few pictures.

Guess I will experiment.........

Jan.18

Well, I thought I'd write more often, but that hasn't been happening...
I plan to jot more later..

What a beautiful day.. makes me feel like spring is next week. I know this is only a foretaste. Everyone who gardens is most likely making their gardening plans right about now.
We never plowed our garden under in the fall, and so with this wonderful thaw, my husband suggested to the man he works with that we ought to have it done now. He looked at him as though he were a little crazy and simply said " just wait till spring"..
Today was a school day, and a day for laundry and all that goes with home keeping.
We still have some happy puppies. The friends who gave the little chihuahuas to my daughter wanted one when they were ready, so Sunday the little brown female went home ton their house. She came back a few hours later though, it was just more than they could handle right now. I guess they will look into finding an adult chihuahua. I'm sure they will get just the right one. : )

Jan. 11 2010

Today has been bright and sunny, but still a bit cold. It has turned into a less than normal day. School lessons began a little later today, but we still accomplished much. The children played together today dressing up and spent quite a bit of time singing together too. I really enjoy that.
Todd was doing an electrical job in Jamestown about a half hour from home. He is now finishing the painting he had begun in our living room/dining room and kitchen. My daughters are especially glad, because that means he will soon begin their new bedroom.
My eldest sons worked on school lessons today and chored for our neighbors. Generally they have daily ping pong matches with each other, but did not today. The mini barn shop, where they usually work afternoons, is slow presently, and so they don't know what to do with their time. They are down to three days a week right now, but things should pick up soon.
The puppies my daughters have raised are so active right now and demand a lot of attention. The chihuahuas especially, because we have them in a Rubbermaid bin in the house. The collies, my oldest daughter's dogs, are in the barn with their mother and I never hear them until we bring them in to pet them and groom them.. I will be glad when this project is over, even though I really like dogs, two litters are a lot of work. We had the collies, and then our neighbors female chihuahua died a week after a cesarean. My daughter offered to help care for them, and our collie female was willing to take them on as her pups. Their owners gave my daughter the pups. It has been a great project for her she is so good with animals.

I thought I would get an early start at this journal. I have not kept one since teenage years. I think I will write a little each day.

Today is Sat. Jan. 9
Our family spent the majority of the morning visiting after having breakfast, and a family reading from Todd(my husband).
Then we all began those essential morning jobs, and my two older sons after choring for the neighbors who are away, practiced their violin and guitar with music playing in the background. It sounded very nice, and lively (bluegrass maybe).
After a nice lunch and nap for my littlest daughter, I am on the computer for awhile.
